Look, you guys know me. I’m not in this for the money or the prizes. I get my reward from helping people. That’s what Daddy’s Little Miracle has been about from the beginning. Well, that and declaring at every opportunity that my son is a little miracle and that I’m just about the best daddy there is.

And that will never change. But I’m a human being. I like to be recognised as much as the next daddy blogger pouring his soul into an online journal of his musings and exaltations and calls to action and gaudy, self-serving proclamations of indignation and/or righteousness.

So when I woke up on Saturday to find that The New York Times’ parenting blog, Motherlode, had chosen Daddy’s Little Miracle to be part of its blogroll, I was extremely excited.

My first thought when I received the kudos was, “I couldn’t have done it without me.

But then I realised that I couldn’t have done it without you. So I just want to thank all the DLM fans out there (especially my special lady friend), whose efforts in promoting this site played a huge part in creating this opportunity.

I hope you’ll all stick with me as we take new adventures together, further exploring the troubling aspects of my son’s personality as well as my disconcerting relationship with food and exercise.

I would also like to thank KJ Dell’Antonia, the editor of Motherlode. Her site has provided endless inspiration for us here at Daddy’s Little Miracle and we tip our hat to its intelligence and mastery (and amazing taste in blogs, wink).

It’s an absolute privilege to be included alongside the other distinguished parenting sites selected, including an online community of parents of children with disabilities, a heartbreaking blog from a mother with stage IV cancer, a mother whose daughter has leukemia and Mom-101, run by a mother who says she doesn’t know what she’s doing but it’s clear that she’s some sort of pro and it’s intimidating.

I still can’t believe I’m in this company.

This blog isn’t as serious-minded as these other sites and that has made me extremely determined to live up to this honour and continue to earn my place on this blogroll.

To that end, I am currently working on a redesign of Daddy’s Little Miracle that will hopefully make everything look and feel amazing. It should be coming out in the next few months.
